earlier this spring i started seeing ants–in the bathroom. ok odd. so one by one as i found them they met their fate in the porcelain throne. then about a week later, almost as if revolting, they made their way in numbers to the kitchen. annoying, but predictable.
great. time for some ant traps.
after forgetting on three consecutive occasions [days] to buy them at target, i finally remembered.
the ant trap selection was located on an end cap. probably a marketing strategy, albeit sick to think about. all i will say is i bought the most “humane” item in the selection.
a little skeptical about the effectiveness of a single black plastic disc, i figured it was better than nothing. gradually the frequency of ant sightings started to decrease and i was rather pleased with the outcome.
about a week later however, to my horror, i realized the reason i no longer had ants crawling around was because they were all lying around dead.
in all fairness, the package does clearly state “they crawl in to eat, and crawl back out to die.” while this struck me as rather unfortunate, i didn’t quite put two and two together. frankly i’m not sure which is worse; finding ants crawling around, or finding piles of dead ones.
